April 23 Israel's Third Woman Rabbi--an Ongoing Journey from Fear to Celebration:
Rabbi Miri Gold will discuss her journey to becoming Israel’s first non-Orthodox rabbi to be recognized by the state, and the place of women in Tfillah. We will visit the Synagogue Hall and discuss issues of pluralism in Judaism today.
Rabbi Miri Gold petitioned the Israel Supreme Court demanding recognition as the rabbi of Gezer. In 2012, the Israel Attorney General decided that rabbis of non-Orthodox rural communities are entitled to salaries, setting an historic precedent.
